FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes erosion on a property?

Erosion happens when water moves faster than the soil and plants can hold it, on slopes, along downspouts and swales, on bare graded ground, and at shorelines. Left alone it carries away topsoil, undermines structures, and muddies nearby waterways.

How do you stop a slope from eroding?

Depending on the grade and soil, we use a combination of regrading, erosion-control blanket and seeding, riprap or boulder armoring, retaining walls or terracing, and deep-rooted native plantings that lock the soil in place permanently.

Do I need an erosion control permit in Dane County?

Soil-disturbing work often falls under Wisconsin NR151 and Dane County erosion-control requirements. We are NR151-certified and pull the proper permits, installing silt fence and sediment controls to keep your site compliant during construction.

Can you fix shoreline or lakeshore erosion?

Yes, shoreline and streambank stabilization is one of our specialties, including riprap, native buffers, and permitted shoreline restoration. Ask about our dedicated Lakeshore Services for waterfront properties.

Do you provide erosion control for commercial and construction sites?

We do. We install and maintain sediment and erosion controls for commercial properties, builders, and active construction sites, as well as long-term solutions for homeowners.
